Happy Spring & New Lip Butters
Just in time for Spring, we have created our best selling Lip Butters in two new flavores: Creme de Menthe and Sugared Strawberries. Creme de Menthe is a sweet, velvety vanilla peppermint/spearment that goes on sheer, smooth and refreshing. Sugared Strawberries offers a slight hint of pink shimmer...not glitter, just enough to reflect the light and tastes like strawberries dusted in powdered sugar. Additional Uses For After 5 Fragrance Roll Ons
Because uncut fragrance oils can be harmful to skin and also because they often do not smell best undiluted, they must be cut with a skin friendly addidive. There are several different bases that can be mixed with fragrance oils to create a perfume. The most popluar bases are pefumer's alcohol, cyclomethicone, and jojoba oil. I have chosen to use jojoba oil for my After 5 Roll Ons because it is the most versatile. At Cherry City, I really strive to create mulitple use products so check out the list below to see some of the many things you can do with your After 5's besides just scent yourself.
*Pour some in jacuzzi
*Mix some with cornstarch and make a body powder
*On a tent when camping
*On silk flowers
*Add some to your bath water
*On an artificial Christmas tree
*Mix with sugar and olive oil and make a body scrub
*On a love note
*On a bed headboard
*In a gym bag
*Refresh potpourri or an old sachet
*Add to holiday ornaments
*Add some to a gift package bow
*Under trash can liners
*Moisten a cotton ball and add to your vaccuum cleaner bag
*Use on a paper towel and tuck inside stored shoes or blankets

Gimme Some Sugar...Vegan Sugar!
A few people have asked me why I use the term "vegan sugar" on my product discriptions for my Sugar Shea Scrubs. "Isn't all sugar vegan?" They want to know. The simple answer is no. The complicated answer is that it is difficult to tell if it is vegan sugar or not, but it more likely is not.
About half of the white sugar manufactured in the US is beet sugar and the other half is cane sugar. The bleaching process for cane sugar is done using a charcoal activation system which may be of animal, vegetable or mineral origin. Over half of the refineries use animal bone char as their charcol. This process is never necessary for beet sugar. All beet sugar is vegan.
Adding to the complication is the labeling process. Why not just use beet sugar? It usually impossible for the consumer to descern beet sugar from cane sugar because often the ingredients simply say "sugar." It is not required that manufacturers specify where it comes from or how it is processed.
Because I label my products vegan, I have chosen to not use any cane sugar unless it is raw. This is why my scrubs are made with turbinado sugar which has not been bleached. The result is a coarse, long lasting and lightly foaming scrub with excellent exfoliation properties that is proudly 100% cruelty free.
